On the former SugarCity factory site lies the Timmerwerkplaats (Carpentry Workshop). This is where maintenance work on the sugar factory took place in the late 19^th century. The raw, industrial space has since been transformed into a beautiful office space equipped with all modern conveniences. Think air conditioning, central heating, roof insulation, and double glazing. The steel roof structure with its window fronts provides plenty of natural light and gives the space a unique character.

Since 2000, the former sugar factory site has been developed into a lively new district. The sugar silos have already been transformed into ultra-modern offices, and the enormous factory is now used as an events venue. Since 2020, ‘Amsterdam The Style Outlets’ has been open. Besides retail, it is an area where business and leisure come together perfectly, with restaurants, a marina, and a supermarket. There is also a 400-room hotel with space for events and conferences.
