The Statenkwartier is a residential neighborhood in The Hague’s Scheveningen district, built between 1890 and 1915. Its official name is Geuzen- en Statenkwartier. The neighborhood lies between Zorgvliet, Duinoord, the Vogelwijk, Scheveningen, the Van Stolkpark and the Scheveningse Bosjes. You rent an office here in a small-scale, quiet setting, not in an office district.
The Statenkwartier has two kinds of buildings where you find office space.
Most of the neighborhood consists of townhouses, often with Art Nouveau facades, around large square-like intersections. The Statenkwartier is a protected national townscape (rijksbeschermd stadsgezicht). Planning a new facade, sign or dormer at your office? Then take that protected status into account.
During the war, the Germans demolished part of the neighborhood for the Atlantic Wall. After the war, the Johan de Wittlaan and the President Kennedylaan were laid out on that site, with office buildings and schools. This is where you find the larger office buildings in the neighborhood. On Deskfinder you find business centers on both avenues, on the edge of the neighborhood, where you rent a desk.
Many residents of the Statenkwartier are expats. They work at international organizations in or near the neighborhood, such as the OPCW and Europol. An office here therefore suits companies that work for or with those organizations. Lunch and errands are covered on the Frederik Hendriklaan, the neighborhood’s long shopping street that locals call “de Fred”.
By public transport you reach the Statenkwartier by tram. Tram line 11 runs through the neighborhood. Since 8 July 2023, tram line 17 has given the Statenkwartier a second tram line again. For an office within walking distance of an intercity station, you are better off looking at The Hague Central Station.
