You can of course rent an entire building with your company, but not every business can afford this. And in some cases it’s also inspiring and smart to base your business in a building where you can meet other entrepreneurs. Amsterdam

Luxury workplace with room to grow

The co-working building on Teleportboulevard near Sloterdijk station is the fifth location of the office concept ScaleHub. This company was founded in 2017 by Thom van Wijk. The idea is for entrepreneurs to only have to focus on their business and its growth. That’s why ScaleHub offers an all-inclusive workplace with furniture, fast internet and coffee & tea.

A nice bonus at this location, set up in the One20 building, are the luxury facilities. Upon arrival you’re welcomed by the smell of fresh coffee from the coffee bar on the ground floor. You also don’t have to bring your own peanut butter sandwich from home every day, since there’s an excellent restaurant right in the building. Had a big lunch? Then you can burn off those calories at the office gym.

Hotspot workplace in the East

This is truly a workplace where you’ll be inspired by your surroundings. With an area of over 1000 m2, this co-working location has room for quite a number of entrepreneurs. This building on the lively Wibautstraat sits in a popular spot, surrounded by real hotspots in Amsterdam East. The street is also home to the Amstelcampus, where mostly programs of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences are based. Thanks to the cozy residential neighborhoods in the side streets of the Wibautstraat, this street is a cheerful mix of young and business crowds.

This co-working space is also a concept from the popular ScaleHub. The building offers entrepreneurs the space to have both a private area where they can focus on their business and receive clients, as well as room to be part of the building’s vibrant community. A place where you can meet other entrepreneurs and get inspired by others’ stories.

Rotterdam

Tropical workplace for innovative entrepreneurs

On Rotterdam’s Maasboulevard stands an iconic building: the former Tropicana swimming paradise. From 1986 onward, families could enjoy a day of subtropical swimming here, until the pool closed in 2010. Not long after, the building was given a new purpose as an events complex, and now the new owner, BlueCity, ensures there’s office space for sustainable startups. Today, Tropicana is a creative breeding ground for innovative, circular entrepreneurs. This means that as an entrepreneur here, you’re bound to do business with the others in the building, working together to build a circular economy. Special companies located here include RotterZwam, which uses coffee grounds from Rotterdam bars and restaurants as a growing medium for its oyster mushrooms, and Fruitleather, which uses fruit waste from the market to create a leather-like material. And there are many more wonderful initiatives — but for those, you’ll just have to come and experience this unique work environment for yourself.

Utrecht

Historic workplace by a castle

Like a true lord or lady of the manor, you’ll receive your visitors here! This monumental gatehouse is located on the grounds of Heemstede Castle. The first castle on this site was presumably built in the 14th century, but more than 300 years later it was demolished and Heemstede Castle was built 500 meters away. The grand castle garden was subsequently laid out in beautiful French Baroque style. After frequently changing owners, the garden fell into disrepair. When a fire broke out in 1987, many original details, ceiling paintings and decorations were lost. Only a ruin remained of the castle.

Since 1999, the castle has been restored to its former glory, along with the gardens and surrounding buildings such as the gatehouse. The latter was partly designed by architect Piet Boon and finished to a very high standard.

The gatehouse is surrounded by sweeping meadows, beautiful woodland and Golf Club Nieuwegein.

Industrial workplace for creativity

A workplace created with the goal of making it easy for entrepreneurs to meet one another. On the Schaverijstraat in Utrecht stands an impressive warehouse at least 175 meters long. Inside this industrial warehouse, room has been made for 35 creative tenants. So if you’re creative or make beautiful things with your hands, this is definitely a great workplace.

Thanks to the layout with lots of glass walls, meeting other creative makers is encouraged, fostering active collaborations that drive growth for the established businesses. On the upper floor there’s also a spacious area where tenants can organize their own events. A true creative breeding ground.

The Hague

Modern workplace in the heart of the city

This office building immediately catches your eye when walking through The Hague’s city center. The distinctive architecture of this building, called Sijthoff, makes the office a true icon in the cityscape. The building is, so to speak, carried by twelve bronze storks, each five meters tall, a nod to the bird that has symbolized the city of The Hague for centuries (also recognizable in the ADO Den Haag logo).

The Sijthoff offers over 6,650 m2 of office space that can be flexibly divided. With its location right in the city center, this is a unique place for entrepreneurs to do business.
