There are an enormous number of different types of office spaces to choose from. Which one you need naturally depends largely on your company, your ambitions and your budget. In this blog we explain, from small to large, which types of offices exist. We’ll also explain whether it might be a good fit for you. Read along?

The smallest office spaces: workspaces

We start our list with the smallest office spaces, namely workspaces. These fall into the category of 0 to 5 workspaces. What’s characteristic is that these workspaces and spaces are mainly suitable for startups, self-employed people or entrepreneurs with a small team. First on the list? For this one, you don’t even need to leave the house.

Home office: Relatively cheap, since you have a space under your own roof. But that often comes with an investment of its own. After all, you need a room that’s suitable for it. On top of that, you’ll want to equip it with everything you need to do your work properly. Think of a desk (perhaps even a sit-stand desk), a good office chair and heating. So even this “free” home workspace still comes with a price tag.

(Flex) workspaces: Regular workspaces are available in abundance. In most cases it’s possible to rent a single workspace in shared buildings or other spaces. If you have a small team or work alone, this might be a good choice, since a desk and a shared coffee machine may already be enough for you. You’re often seated among other people here, which is an advantage over working from home in terms of creativity and business connections.

Virtual workplace: You might be wondering: why is it possible to have 0 workspaces and still rent a space/spot? That’s because of virtual workplaces. In effect, you’re registered here, so that your company has a business address. This can be desirable if you’d rather not have this information listed at a private address, or if you want an address that looks representative for the look and feel of your company.

A size bigger: small office spaces

In the meantime, your company may already be growing and may have become too big for the workspaces described above. Then it might be time for a step up. You could think of office spaces suitable for a larger team or ready for your intended growth. We start with the smallest office spaces: units.

Small office units: If your company is growing and you need more space, you could consider renting a small office unit. These units often offer room for 5 to 20 workspaces and give you the option of having your team in one location. This type of space is ideal for companies that want their own office environment but still want to retain flexibility.

Shared office spaces: Do you want the benefits of your own office, but also want to enjoy the dynamics of a shared environment? Then shared office spaces might be an option. These spaces often offer a mix of private offices and communal areas, giving you the opportunity to work in an inspiring environment while still having your own enclosed space.

Collective buildings: For companies looking for a professional image and the benefits of shared facilities, business collective buildings can be an attractive choice. These buildings house multiple companies under one roof and often offer shared meeting facilities, reception services and other amenities that can improve the efficiency of your business operations.

The biggest step: a full office

A fully own office space: If you have a larger company with a substantial number of employees, renting an entire office building or a complete office floor might be the best choice. This not only gives you the space you need, but also allows you to tailor the office layout to your team’s specific needs. This can often be done fully in your own style and with all the amenities you could wish for. A workspace of your own can also feel safer, which in turn can lead to greater job satisfaction and, in turn, improved productivity.
